Nonspecific marker of inflammation that measures how quickly red blood cells settle to the bottom of a tube over one hour, expressed in mm/hr.

METHODOLOGIES: Automated Westergren (Excyte Mini)

SPECIMEN:

- Type: Whole Blood

- Container: Lavender Top (K2/K3 EDTA) Vacutainer

- Minimum Volume Required: 2 mL

- Storage/Handling: Gently invert specimen 8 - 10 times immediately following blood collection to prevent clotting. Maintain specimen at room temperature or in the refrigerator until testing can be performed.

- Turnaround Time: 24 hours from receipt.
